July 2011 Project of the Month
Tode Landscape Contractors, Inc.
Now that the children were all grown up and out of the house, these two “empty nesters” in Upper Saddle River, NJ decided it was time to do something for themselves and give their property an extreme makeover. And that's exactly what they did, but not without some serious help from Mike Tode from Tode, The Artistry of Landscape.
The clients new that they wanted to get rid of the swimming pool but didn't know what to put in its place. They knew that they wanted to enjoy the peace and tranquility of their surroundings and still wanted a water feature. Tode immediately suggested creating a large pond in place of the pool which was more appropriate for their current lifestyle.
The clients loved the idea and as you can see from the photos, Tode and his crews did not disappoint them. Despite the townships requirement that the right of way dictated the width of the pond on the left side, this project was completed without a hitch and the results are amazing
Tode, the Artistry of Landscape removed an existing 20' x 40' pool and patio, and in its place, installed a natural stone 25' x 42' pond. The pond features a waterfall, a bog, and two streams, all surrounded by naturalized plantings. In addition, they installed a paver patio along side of the pond to give the homeowners a seating area to enjoy their new pond. They used a mix of perennials, grasses, and aquatic plants to give the pond a natural look in this beautiful outdoor setting.
